Crafting a Minimalist
Aesthetic for Unread’s
Inspirational Issues
I worked with the founder of Unread magazine at it’s inception to create an all round aesthetic for the brand. Keeping elegance and minimalism in mind, I worked on 15+ issues, bringing to life articles and putting together promotional material to inspire people to stay creative, passionate and mindful. Unread magazine carefully crafts bimonthly publications with the sole aim of inspiring people to do (or keep doing) what they love.
From cover design and editorial spreads to promotional materials and social assets, every issue was crafted with a consistent visual language that felt fresh yet timeless. Working across 15+ issues gave me a deep understanding of editorial pacing, typography, and how to present ideas in a way that feels both beautiful and purposeful.
“As a founding member, Soumbal shaped Unread Magazine’s elegant and minimalist aesthetic from the get go. Her beautiful designs brought our content to life, shaping the visual identity that was carried across 15+ issues. Soumbal is a truly fantastic and talented designer that is able to take ideas and transform them into visual stories – her creative direction was absolutely essential to the growth of Unread.”
– Lubna Ahmed-Haque, Founder of Unread Magazine
